About

I am accountant. It is surprising how big a part of my identity revolves around this fact. Many of the stereotypes associated to accountants apply to me:

  • risk-averse
  • conservative
  • a bit nerdy (I really do love Excel)
  • I look great in black, grey and navy.

But like most people, there is more than meets the eye. I have a deep love for ballet, and will try convince you it is gangsta. I enjoyΒ boxing. The incongruity of my accountant (“vanilla”, so I have been told) lifestyle with my boxing interest is the source of many of my amusing stories. That, coupled with my attempts at both online and offline dating, will be the focus of this blog – a catalogue of funny events in my life, however small.

My catchphrase, which I am trying to bring into the mainstream is: “Let your phoenixes arise proudly.” Slips easily into everyday conversation.

Should any of y’all feel a burning desire to contact me, do so below:

    1. Thanks!!!! That’s all that matters, that readers like my blog.

Getting feedback too is pretty sweet. πŸ™‚

(I never posted the 2nd award. The rules called for 10? 12? blog referrals and at the time, I didn’t know enough bloggers. I caved under the stress.)

      1. Understood. And if every blogger who gets an award nominates 12 more, and they all nominate 12, before we know what’s happened the blogpond will be so full of waterlily pads that we won’t be able to swim anymore.

  1. Hey there! Thanks for following my page.
I know a few accountants and most ARE nerdy nerd nerds who make spreadsheets outside of work to organize their lives. Seriously.
But I don’t believe that one is bound to the stereotypes of their occupation. If that were true, relationships would be boring. LIfe would be so much less interesting.
You do you. I dig your blog.

  2. I nominated you for the Inspirational Blogger Award! And I know I’m super behind on doing the freestyle writing challenge, I’m sorry! I haven’t forgotten, I’m just super slowly catching up πŸ™‚ But in any event, don’t feel obligated to do anything with this nomination–just know that I love your blog and that’s why I nominated you!

  3. “Dynamo” talked to me about your blog, but obviously didn’t know what was the website called. I happened to stumble on your Instagram page so I found it! I must say, I love it! So raw and brutally honest. The fact that you make fun of yourself tells a lot about you. Don’t worry about being single, the day you stop thinking about finding the right person, it will happen on it’s own. There’s someone out there for you that will love the short hair and the muscular physique, and hopefully, that will also enjoy boxing and ballet as much as you do! (or at least support you).
    Continue writing those awesome articles!

    1. Lol, of course he didn’t!!!

Thanks for the sweet words, and for taking the time to read my stories. πŸ™‚

You gotta laugh about everyone and everything – the Universe has one twisted sense of humour, we gotta try keep up!

  4. Having familiarized myself with the provenance of your catchphrase, I hereby solemnly commit to inserting the words “Let your phoenixes arise proudly” into my conversations at EVERY opportunity, however awkward the linkage might be.

Unfortunately I won’t be able to do more than say the words, tho. My phoenixes no longer arise (proudly or otherwise) on account of having been eaten by my inner thoroughbred. It was a very sad day. 😦
